About this culture

Banana worms are a close, smaller cousin of the microworm and are cultured in exactly the same way. Because they are smaller and thinner, very tiny fry can eat them a few critical days earlier — often the difference between a spawn making it or not. Run them alongside microworms and step fry up in food size as they grow.

Best for

  • Very small / early fry
  • Killifish & nano fish fry
  • Rainbowfish fry
  • Breeders who already keep microworms

How to culture it

  1. Set up exactly like microworms: thick oats or porridge paste in a shallow, ventilated tub.
  2. Add the starter, keep at room temperature, and harvest worms climbing the sides within a week.
  3. Label tubs clearly — banana worm and microworm cultures look identical at a glance.
  4. Refresh tubs every 2–3 weeks and keep a backup of each type.

How to feed it

Harvest from the tub walls, suspend in tank water and pipette gently over the fry.

Ideal as the step between infusoria/liquid fry food and microworms or baby brine shrimp.
